Flexibility for a growing e-commerce
Customer case: Lindex
Linde'x plants for order picking to stores (Distribution Center) and E-commerce (Shop Online), are situated just outside Gothenburg in Sweden.
Ergobjörn Trucks from Helge Nyberg AB have since June 2013 been in the building where E-commerce orders are handled, . Efficiency is steadily increasing in the newly renovated warehouse, tailor made to their flow. And highly efficient work is crucial, especially since Linde'x E-commerce has been growing with 30 percent per year for the past seven years.
The floor is shining in the light and fresh-looking
premises where around 20 people work with e-commerce order picking. Orders for all EU-countries are handled from here. They work daytime, and on an average, around 1,000 orders and 5,000 garments are handled each day.
Changes in range demands a constantly high flexibility. For example, a brand new range of men’s underwear has just been added.
To create an optimum flow, every square metre is estimated. Together with Helge Nyberg and other suppliers, plus computer simulations, we were able to calculate different scenarios. We also made reference visits to other Helge Nyberg-customers,vsays Per Schölander, DC Manager at Lindex.
– The trucks work perfectly for the many starts and stops occurring during an order picking tour, and the operators find them fast and easy to drive, he continues.
" – Helge Nyberg AB was a natrual choice of partner for us. They have extensive experience in order picking and warehouse logistics."

Ergobjörn Truck Model 713
Lindex uses specially adapted Ergobjörn Trucks Model 713. Among other things, the trucks have steering wheels for the floor guide rails. This facilitates manoeuvring the trucks in the picking aisles. The trolleys are custom made for a high efficient order picking process. Previously, manual trolleys with 8 order compartments were used, but now each trolley holds 20 compartments. Grid trolleys are used for keeping things clean. Garments like blouses and jackets are hung at the back of the trolleys.
Several Ergobjörn trolleys
For some time now, Helge Nyberg has been a supplier. At the premises next door, Lindex has handled order picking for stores with manual Ergobjörn Trolleys since 2007.
– It is a strategic advantage and important for us to manage our own warehouse and distribution. We have had a third party logistics solution earlier, but the advantages are shown in savings, plus making investment decisions easier. Right now we are calculating the building of a mezzanine floor since we are growing so strongly, Per concludes.
